A Letter from Pius, April 2009
Dear Peter and Vivien..
I am very delighted to take this chance to write a few word to you after a long period of my silence. Regardless of this long silence, you have always been in my heart and mind, thinking of you and praying for you.
Your mail coincidentally reached me the day I returned from a 3 months voluntary work in one of the rural areas in The Coast Region (Tanzania). After completing my internship at KCMC, I thought it was wise to go out and work with disadvantaged people in remote areas where medical services are not easily accessible, putting in mind that I was also supported by friends from your community to pursue my medical studies, hence I also thought it was a high time to help those who need my help.
I thank God my in charge was impressed by me and persuaded me to work at his hospital (owned by the Government of Tanzania),. in the Children's ward (Paediatric Ward). I am now a general practician, based within the paediatric unit and hopefully, if I am lucky to get financial support from the Government, I will start a 3 years course for paediatric specialization, which will start in October this year. I humbly ask for your prayers in this aspect.
My new work is very interesting, imagine dealing with the little ones, who can not even explain or express what they are suffering from. I only deal with the symptoms they present with and the information from their care-takers. However, I truly enjoy dealing with these little angels of God.
The hospital I am working now is called TUMBI HOSPITAL,situated in Coast (Pwani) Region, about 40 to 50 kilometers from Dar Es Salaam City. It is going to be my pleasure if any of the community members visits me in case they come to Tanzania..You are all warmly welcome..!!!..The area is warm and we are now in a wet/rain season until mid may.
Lastly, I would like to convey my greetings to all the community members (YOU ARE ALL IN MY DAILY PRAYERS)....Good luck to Stan in his theology studies (hello to Liz).
Wishing you all the best and may our Heavenly Father bless you. Hope to hear from you!!
With love,
Dr. Pius
